The Canadian Beverage Association (CBA) is aware of various lists, websites, and social media posts intended to inform consumers about product origins. While supporting locally made products is important, we encourage consumers to rely on on-pack labelling as the most accurate and verifiable source of information.
Canadians should be cautious when relying on third-party sources that may not have access to complete or verified data. Misinformation—whether intentional or not—can create confusion and misrepresent the contributions of Canadian businesses. The best way to determine where a product is made is to check the packaging or contact the manufacturer directly.
Despite these concerns, consumers should be confident that they are supporting Canadians when purchasing a non-alcoholic beverage. The beverage sector is a major economic contributor to Canada, with 85% of all beverages sold in Canada being produced locally. The sector operates in over 100 communities nationwide and employs 55,868 Canadians.
