Statement: United States and Canada Tariff Announcement

Canada and the United States have a long-standing, deeply integrated trade relationship that supports jobs and economic growth on both sides of the border. The non-alcoholic beverage sector is a prime example of this partnership, with companies relying on cross-border supply chains for raw materials, packaging and distribution. Ensuring fair and stable trade policies helps maintain this vital economic relationship and benefits consumers in both countries.

The Canadian Beverage Association urges policymakers to carefully consider the impact of tariffs on essential materials, including juice products, necessary to the Canadian beverage sector. The majority of non-alcoholic beverages consumed in Canada are manufactured here, with 88 cents of every dollar earned in the sector staying in the local economy. The industry proudly directly and indirectly employs over 56,000 Canadians at more than 400 facilities nationwide.

At a time when affordability is a key concern for households across the country, it is critical to prioritize policies that support Canadian jobs, strengthen the manufacturing sector and ensure a stable supply chain for the beverage industry. The association encourages decision-makers to focus on solutions that enhance economic stability and foster a strong, competitive Canadian marketplace.
